CESSThe Center for Enterprise Support Studies aims to study how the government stimulates or impedes enterprise success and development. We thereby focus on the Belgium context, using firm-level micro data from financial reporting. Considering all government levels that exist in Belgium; i.e. federal, regional and local, and the high level of government involvement in terms of taxation, spending, regulation and support measures, there is a large array of potential research questions to be addressed. Past research by CESS has included items such as regulation on insider trading, the notional interest deduction, the VOKA PLATO networking program, local taxation, tax compliance costs, the smoking ban for restaurants etc.. Investigating policy-related themes in Belgium, we hope to gather evidence which can potentially be relevant to both companies and policy makers.

CESS is both politically and ideologically neutral.
